The Center for Historical Population Studies existed from 1977 to 1984 to conduct and facilitate research in all disciplines dealing with past populations. Dean L. May, Assistant Professor of History, served as director of the Center. This collection contains grant applications and associated correspondence for research projects sponsored by the Center for Historical Population Studies. Also included are photocopies of two articles by Dean May and a small quantity of general Center correspondence.

Dean Lowe May (1938-2003) was a historian in Utah. Dean Lowe May was born in Worland, Wyoming to Frank Peter and Wanda Lowe May. He was born on April 6, 1938.
